About Us

Borderland BBQ began rolling in November of 2004. I left my job of 13 years as a painter to pursue my love of food. I worked as Sous Chef and Chef in local restaurants. I soon realized that to be truly happy I needed to cook my favorite food, BARBEQUE!

I built my own kitchen in a 22 foot trailer. Included in the trailer is my homemade 4 x 6 foot upright smoker. I have put my love, blood, sweat, and tears into building my food trailer.

At Borderland BBQ we offer two types of food services, catering and food truck. Of course all of our meats are cooked competition style. I grill low and slow with a special blend of spices to bring out the true flavors of authentic New Mexico BBQ. Our typical menu consists of brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, sausage, hot wings, and turkey legs. Special of the day items may be chicken parmesan, grilled salmon risotto, bourbon glazed salmon, seared lamb, stuffed pork, grilled duck breast, tampiqueña steak, green chili Ruben, and soup of the day. Of course we only use real Hatch, NM Chili!

“Team Borderland BBQ” competes in Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) and International Barbeques Cookers Association (IBCA) competitions in the area. In 2008 we were the reserve grand champion in the IBCA New Mexico Billy the Kid Shoot Off. In 2012 we took 4th place in pork, 3rd in BBQ sauce, and 3rd in baked beans in the KCBS Pork n Brew.
